There are not many cycling events that can hang their hats on being around for more than 35 years. However, the Florida Freewheelers will be hosting the "Horrible Hundred" for an astounding 38th time. The "Horrible Hundred" takes place over two eventful days in November (18-19), just before you head off to Grandma to celebrate turkey day. On the first of the two days, you will get a preview of the main event with several familiarization rides that will begin from the same start/finish line. The two-day expo will be in full swing. In attendance, you can count on the presence of several local bike shops showcasing some of the best cycling machines money can buy. Heck, there are also demo opportunities where you can sample some of these cycling eye candies.
Not to be outdone by the cycling vendors, there will also be a few food trucks on hand to quash that appetite you developed from walking the expo grounds or from calories burned on the familiarization rides. What's that I hear, you have some aches and pains that will prevent you from going the full 100 miles? Worry no more, there will be a full contingent of massage therapists on hand for all your cycling achy needs. An event jersey and t-shirt will be available. To be guaranteed one of the coveted event jerseys, be sure to include that choice when you register online by the cut-off date in late September. Jerseys can be picked up at the time of check-in and packet pick-up on Day 1 of the expo by the Clermont Waterfront.
Please remember that the Horrible Hundred is a recreational ride and cyclists of all abilities are welcome. Helmets are required and headphones are prohibited, in accordance with Florida law. This is a rain-or-shine event.
